We adopt out pets from our shelter at 3750 Scottsville Rd and from our satellite center at PetSmart in Henrietta Mon-Sun. Adoption hours for the shelter and PetSmart can be found under “contact us”.
Anyone who is interested in adopting a pet is more than welcome to come to our shelter during adoption hours to take a look, no appointment necessary. If you see a pet on our website you like, you can call first to make sure the pet has not yet been adopted. Our Adoption Specialists will walk you through the shelter and answer any questions you may have. If there is a particular dog or cat you are interested in, we have areas you can spend one on one time with them. We always want to make sure that all family members, including other pets, will get along with any potential adoption. If you have a pet at home, and are looking to add to the family, we encourage you to bring them with you.
If you have selected a pet you would like to adopt, there is an adoption application you must fill out. You can do this online before coming to the shelter. Just print one out and bring it with you, or just fill one out while you are here. Our Adoption Specialists will go over your application (if you rent or lease, we require a landlord check). If your application is accepted, and you have chosen a pet, there is an Adoption Agreement form to fill out. The adoption fee must be paid at the time of adoption. Arrangements will be made for any veterinary services that are needed prior to going home.
All pets receive a bag of food, and 1 dose of flea medication to go home with. Your pet will receive a free health exam/stool check with in 2 weeks of adopting and 10% off veterinary services at either of our hospitals for the 1st year. Any pet that requires booster vaccines, are NOT included in the adoption fee.
